hodgepodge post

for you lubbockites- no, not that hodgepodge. just a little random post with unorganized thoughts.

so we've been bad about updating lately, which is a good indicator of the craziness of our life right now. work has gotten super busy for me, and collin started working full time recently (in addition to graduate school, which is itself rather busy this time of year). we don't see people often right now, but when we do we try to make the most of it:

lauren is 23 and headed for grad school!
shane & michelle's prenuptial park party
evidence we still exist
more park partying
a little dated, but this picture shows my sweet husband's wrapping job for my birthday present- i was very impressed with his craftiness!

so you may be wondering, "cass, why are you taking time in the middle of the day to write this?" i'm home sick, again... this is god's way of making me slow down and have a more heavenly view of time. conveniently, this also provided me the opportunity to complete my clinical fellowship paperwork to apply for my full SLP license!

on the time issue, i want to leave you a quote from my favorite book (which i reread last night when i was unable to sleep). the author is speaking of what trouble humans have with time and what that suggests...

"Then, if we complain of time and take such joy in the seemingly timeless moment, what does that suggest? It suggests that we have not always been or will not always be purely temporal creatures. It suggests we were created for eternity. Not only are we harried by time, we seem unable, despite a thousand generations, even to get used to it. We are always amazed at it- how fast it goes, how slowly it goes, how much of it is gone. Where, we cry, has the time gone? We aren't adapted to it, not at home in it. If that is so, it may appear as a proof, or at least a powerful suggestion, that eternity exists and is our home." -Sheldon Vanauken, A Severe Mercy

as unpressured time is rare and precious right now, i take great comfort knowing that heaven is a homecoming to a place where time is no longer a burden... because our god is outside of time. though he created time for our good here on earth, eternity by its very nature is timeless. it is one of the many characteristics of god that i look forward to enjoying fully and endlessly praising him for.
