Y'all, Addy's quite the communicator these days. The speech-language pathologist and linguist (a.k.a. mama and daddy) in this house are LOVING it. She signs "all done" (sometimes saying "ah-dah"), "please," and occasionally she'll half imitate the sign for "water." Lots of people have asked me if she knows "more" yet. No. Emphatically no. I have this weird irritation with the "more" sign being kind of demanding, and teaching 2 signs for the same function (please and more would accomplish the same thing for her: requesting) isn't really very practical anyway. "Please" is a lot cuter, and it helps her request things. She also claps or throws her hands up when we say, "yay!" It's pretty cute.
Addy's learning and using spoken words as well. The one she definitely has down is "hi!" as she waves to everyone, whether that be when she sees you first thing in the morning or walking down the aisles of the grocery store. She loves to greet people. This mama loves it.
She also says the following words pretty regularly, but is still sorting out what means what: mama (she especially thinks it's a fun game to watch our correction when she calls herself or Collin "mama"), baby (usually any cuddly toy with eyes), dada (she likes that she gets a reaction, but she mostly thinks Collin is mama... so I'm not sure what she's talking about), and I think she's starting to say "bah?" as she hands you a book to read. She imitates lots of other things in the moment, but those words she says spontaneously.
We love this sweet, tender-hearted, squirmy kid more than words can say!
