living small

Sometimes I like to pretend and think Collin & I should have a house, or generally just somewhere more spacious to live than our 850 sq foot apartment. (I mean, everything IS bigger in Texas, isn't it? That definitely means my living space should be bigger...) Then I come back to reality and remember- I'd be super stressed out about more space.

Collin and I strive to be simple people, though we diverge just a little about this in some areas. My main focus: getting rid of stuff we don't need or use. Collin's main focus: not wasting stuff. The conversation usually goes something like this: me-"Seriously, when was the last time you used/wore/looked at that?" Collin- "I just hate for it to go to waste... it's still good." I think we both have valid points. Thus the less space we have, the more often I get to win the "to keep or not to keep" battle... not that winning is the issue, right?

Well all this was supposed to lead up to this video. It's not that great of an intro, but here it is:

Extreme and a little silly, but I like it.

Collin & I strive to live simply because we want to avoid making idols of our stuff. We don't want to be bogged down by stuff, paying for that stuff, or cleaning up that stuff. We want to have the ability to get up and go do the things God has called us to, to give generously, and to spend more time with people than our stuff. I pray that we would continue to strive for that value in our lives for the glory of God.
