Perks, you ask? I mean, pregnancy is not the most comfortable state of being ever. I'm well aware, but there are indeed perks. Here are my favorite things about being pregnant (some silly, some serious):
1. Pregnant lady parking = awesome.
2. Strangers strike up conversations about pregnancy and childrearing with me at the most random times. I actually think this is funny and entertaining, but some don't like it I suppose. My favorite example so far: An older gentleman at United took out my groceries, and as we walked to the car he says, "So what happened to you, girl?" After my awkward answer of, "Well... something good I think," he preceded to detail how to predict my child's adult height. Maybe this sort of thing only happens in West Texas.
3. Baby wiggles in my belly... as long as my ribs, bladder, kidney, etc. are out of the way.
4. Watching my husband fall in love with and get excited about this little person we have yet to meet, and falling in love with him all the more because of it.
5. No shame in eating dessert, people. "Living the dream," as a friend put it.
6. I feel like I have had a get out of jail free card. I forget something, or say something stupid, and automatically people laugh it off as my "pregnant brain." Legitimate or not, I'll take it!
