Collin & I try to do a date every week. We do this for several reasons. One is to try to be in a habit of reserving time for just us, so that when life gets crazy we don't suddenly look up after months and say something like, "who are you?" Another is, well, we like each other. We also highly value making sure what we have together is healthy and good, which takes time and effort. The list goes on.
Anyhow, we try to rotate who plans these dates. Planning can be simple or elaborate, at home or on the town, etc. We even budget for these times (just makin' sure our money is where our mouths are!). As noted in the previous post, last weekend was the opposite of chill and thus no date- exams only. So we stayed in this Friday, and I made fancy a Moroccan dinner before Collin got home from work. That's all from scratch, friends- even the bread!
Do you like my autumn table cloth and pumpkins? Haha- anyhow, it was a media free night/morning for us- we played games, talked, read books for fun and enjoyed each other's company. Not the most adventurous date we ever had, but geez it was so good for our souls to rest. It's also good to be savoring our last few months as a family of two!
I get "dibs" on the little "missy" on Friday nights when you have your dates after she's born!
