Apple Country- 2009 Edition

Last year around this time Collin surprised me with a date to the local apple orchards, and we would both tell you that it was probably the best day of our time dating. As such, we decided to make it an annual tradition to visit out there as long as we are here in the LBK. So that's what we did this past weekend, but unfortunately there were no apples to pick this year because of an April freeze. As disappointed as we were, we still had a good time. Lunch out there was great, and we were very entertained by the "Scarlet Toppers" sitting across from us:

The best part was that this was the day of the Texas Tech (red) vs. K-State (purple) game. I decided these red hat ladies were very diplomatic in their support of the teams and accurately reflect how the 2 universities get along. (I got a first hand view of this collegiate sportsmanship via my in-laws, who are big fans of both universities and help bring them together. It was pretty phenomenal- I wish I had taken pictures!) Okay, maybe they just like purple and red- but they could have shown up at the game and nobody would have doubted that they just had divided interests.

Anyhow, after lunch Collin & I did a little shopping around in the Apple Country store. We were offered a taste of some cinnamon honey and were sold- we wanted to take some home. As there were no jars of it currently available, Collin got to help pour a few jars:

Delicious. You should come have hot tea at our place and maybe we'll let you partake of the cinnamon honey. Maybe.
