We found the first book, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness while browsing around a store in San Angelo. We were dating at the time, and Collin asked if he could buy me the book. Being ornery about such things, I said no and bought the book myself. I read it immediately and LOVED it.
Collin finally got around to reading it a couple of months ago, shortly before the second book in the saga came out on August 18. He liked it so much, he pre-ordered North! or Be Eaten. Trust me when I say we struggled not to tear pages in the excitement of its arrival in our mailbox.
These are classified as fiction/fantasy books, and I suppose that's true. Andrew Peterson, who is a favorite musician and storyteller of ours, has created an exciting adventure in a new world (with new creatures): 3 kids. Innumerable toothy cows. A pirate grandpa. Wild escapes. Incredible journeys. Obscure footnotes. Lost jewels. Books & Crannies. A gargan rockroach. Hilarious appendices... What more could you ask for?
These books are 275 & 323 pages, respectively. This best review I've found was written about book 2, by Jeffrey Overstreet:
"Andrew Peterson has awakened my inner eight-year-old, and that is a very good thing.”
We are looking forward to the book(s) yet to be published. On the Edge is also available in audio version from Amazon, and it is read by a very expressive, deep-voiced British man- I recommend it for your next road trip!

I'm so going to read those books...I love fantasy/fiction. I'm reading a good series right now, it's by rick riordan...the first book is called "The Lighting Thief". It's about greek gods and their children, cool idea. I think they are making a movie out of them too, but not sure. Anyway, good to see you have a blog!
