So here's the deal: I'm car #5 in all this- at the end of the line. I'm sure you can already foresee the not-awesomeness in store. At least there wasn't a car #6.
Car #1 cuts off car #2, cutting across traffic and slamming on the breaks to turn and park in the nearest alley. Car #2 swerves and successfully dodges disaster with car #1. Car #3 slams breaks but cannot swerve, and luckily does not hit car #1 (which turned into an alley to park). Car #4, a big ol' diesel truck with a grill guard and trailer hitch, has just merged into a not too tight but not great spot in front of me (car #5) RIGHT AS car #1 was doing it's cutting off/break business. Car #4 slams his breaks, but he's huge and can't stop. So, he hits car #3. I had already slowed down to accomodate big truck's merge and proceeded to SLAM breaks to try to avoid disaster to no avail. Trailer hitch in my bumper. LAME.
Thankfully it wasn't a huge deal, no one was injured, and all is well. The hardest part was watching car #1 park unscathed and uninvolved in the driveway right next to where we waited 40 minutes for the cop in 90 degree weather. It took much remembering of the grace of God (which worked on me while I was His enemy, for sure) to eliminate my desire to key car #1. It was good to be able to forgive, give grace, and try to care for the two other guys involved who waited for the cops with me.
So sorry about your smash-up. At least your car drives without repairs----God's grace---again! I pray you are unharmed.
ReplyDeleteno damage to my person- lots of grace in it all, for sure. i'm definitely thankful to just have a hole in my bumper!
